Your Attitude Matters!

How do you react when things are tough or don’t go your way?  When people question what you’re doing does it fuel you or discourage you?  Do you assume you’re going to reach your goals or do you not really think you’ll ever get there?  Why am I asking all those questions?  It’s because your attitude matters!  

A favorite quote of mine has always been, “The man who thinks he can and the man who thinks he can’t are both right.”

It’s strange how that works, but it seems to be true.  If you really don’t believe you can achieve something, you most likely won’t.  If you dwell on how hard a task is and think it’s impossible, then you’re less likely to give it all your effort and more likely to not complete that task.  If you get discouraged easily by minor set backs, not seeing the results you want right away, or listening to those people who say you can’t do it, then you’re setting yourself up for failure.

On the flip-side, if you truly believe that you can accomplish your goals, then you are much more likely to achieve them.  If you assume you’re going to lose the weight you’ve always wanted to lose, then there should be nothing that can stop you.  When people tell you you can’t do it, if you let that fuel your drive to prove them wrong, it will just propel you towards your goal even more.  If you look at a workout that’s very difficult and think “I’ll do my best and forget the rest” then you can’t fail!  When your mindset is positive and confident, then you are setting yourself up for success.

I write this because I’ve read lots of messages from people who get discouraged quickly, let others get to them, or just hope they’re going to get good results.  When someone says to me, “I hope this is going to work” or “I hope I can stick to my nutrition plan” or “I hope I can get my workout in today” that really tells me that they don’t believe they can do it.  They have no confidence in themselves to stick to what they need to do, and will ultimately let excuses get in the way and will blame other things for their failure.  Then they believe the workouts and nutrition plans don’t work and they quit.  But we all know that’s not true.  You can look at transformation after transformation and see that Beachbody’s line of products really do yield amazing results when you’re willing to put in the work.  Those people you see who have had amazing transformations are the ones who knew they could do it and assumed they would.  Your beliefs are going to shape your actions.  So when you believe you’re going to reach your goals and get the results you want, your actions are going to line up with that and get you there.  And you won’t let minor setbacks discourage you and throw you completely off track.  Your mindset, especially at the start of your journey, is probably the most important thing.  So write down your goals, truly believe you can achieve them, and then put in the hard work that you know it takes to reach them!
