Weekly Check-In

Hey Team!

I hope all of your weeks are off to a great start and you’re rocking your goals.  Up north here it’s dropped below freezing and it feels like there is very little daylight anymore. It can easily be a time to want to hibernate until spring, but on this team we don’t just pack it in for the winter!  Seasonal affective disorder is a real thing that can plague people in the winter in areas that really get reduced sunlight.  I’ll write up a post on that, but if you think that you might be feeling those effects, a Vitamin D supplement might not be a bad idea.

My success tip of the week again comes from Tony Horton.  If you’re a P90X fan you’ll be familiar with this.  During Ab Ripper X he says, “Tip of the day: Don’t do this everyday.”  What he means is that you shouldn’t be working out one body part every single day.  When you’re doing any sort of resistance training, the earliest that you should hit that muscle group again is 48 hours.  When you lift you’re breaking down your muscle fibers.  They really get stronger because they repair themselves and grow back a little stronger than before.  So you shouldn’t be working one muscle group every day, and that includes abs.

Conversely, if you’ve been having trouble starting at all, check out my tips on how to start.  I know some people struggle just to get going.  Sometimes it’s hard to just get going, but once you are moving an in a groove you build momentum and will see some serious results.  So if you’re struggling or making excuses as to why you can’t get going, check out that article and get started!
