Weekly Check-In

Hey Team!

I hope your week is going is going great!  If you’ve had a rough start to the week, you can still turn it around.  Commit today to doing the things you know you need to.  I was just talking with friends last night about a book I’m reading that I wanted to share with you all.

It’s called The Slight Edge and I really would encourage everyone to pick up a copy and read it.  The book is really about being successful in any area of your life, and the characteristics that you see in successful people.  The main theme is that successful people do the things that are easy to do and easy not to do.  If you don’t do these activities it’s not going to kill you today, but compounded over time it can lead to massive failure.

I find this extremely practical, especially when applying it to the fitness arena.  What are some of the things that are easy to do and easy not to do?  One example for me is that all day every day at work, I sit by two bowls of M&M’s.  My co-worker keeps them stocked at all times.  Not eating those M&M’s is something that is very easy to do since it’s completely up to me to grab them or not, but it’s also easy not to do since they are always there and I do have a sweet tooth.  If I chose to eat some every day, it would be easy to eat an extra 250-300 calories every day.  In one day, that’s not too bad, but if that happens consistently, it only takes about 12 days to eat enough calories to gain 1 pound.  1 lb every 12 days compounded over  time would not be good!

So that’s just one personal example of how I apply the slight edge philosophy to my daily life.  Like I said, I would highly recommend getting a copy and reading it.  It’s very practical and is really helpful.

If you missed the posts earlier this week I’ve posted about Good vs Bad Carbs, which I think is helpful if you’re getting started out or if you’ve never really thought about the difference between good and bad carbs.  And for those of you finishing up a round of Insanity, I posted my thoughts on what you can do after Insanity.

As always, I’m here for you.  No question is dumb, and you should never hesitate to shoot me a question.  I’m here to help you reach your goals so please send me a message or leave a comment on a post if you have something on your mind!

And 2 favors that I ask:

1) If you like the hard work I put into writing my articles and video, PLEASE help me out by sharing them.  Click the share links below them and share them on FB, Stumbleupon, etc.  It really helps me get more exposure and grow Team New Body!

2) Also, as always, remember that the way I benefit from being your coach is that I earn a commission from any Beachbody products that you purchase, as long as you buy them through my site, www.teamnewbody.com, or by logging in to www.teambeachbody.com to do your shopping (If you buy from the plain beachbody site I get no credit). It helps with the amount of time I spend answering all your questions and helping you out. Thank you! I really appreciate it!
