Weekly Check-In

Hey Team!

Happy Thursday!  I hope you’ve been rocking February!  I know for me, this time of year is always tough.  Winter is getting long and I’m severely lacking in Vitamin D, but hopefully in a couple short months things will warm up and it will almost be time for summer!  That also means no more baggy sweatpants and sweaters in the not-too-distant future, so it’s definitely time to tighten up the nutrition.

I think this can be a great time of year to get your fitness house in order.  If you started something like P90X, Body Beast, Insanity Max:30, etc right now, you’ll put yourself in a great position to feel confident when summer comes around!  So if you’ve been slacking a bit lately, it’s time to re-focus and get back on track.  If you’re struggling with figuring out what to do for a workout or what to eat, I can help you in that department!

My success tip for this week is inspired from hearing Captian Richard Phillips speak at work recently.  If you’re not familiar with him, they recently made a movie out of his experience being the captain of a ship that was taken by pirates.  It’s a story of resilience and problem solving that was pretty amazing.  One thing that stuck out to me from his speech was his notion that we are capable of much more than we often think we are.  How often do you think something is too tough for you to accomplish?  With fitness that could be a specific workout that seems intimidating.  In other areas of life it could be getting that job you want, getting out of debt, etc.  But I think his story is a great example of how you can accomplish more than you think.  If there’s a task that you’re scared of, what’s holding you back?  If you go all out and do everything you can, I think you’ll surprise yourself with what you can accomplish.  So this week, really think about that one thing that feels a little bit outside of your comfort zone and take that leap to go after it!

After bulking up for 6 straight months, I decided to take on the challenge of adding some Insanity Max:30 into my schedule.  This program is no joke!  Especially considering that I have not done a ton of cardio lately.  As I continue with the program I’ll write a more thorough review, but if you’re looking for a challenge this definitely fits the bill!
