Round 2 Hybrid

So now that I’ve completed Insanity, P90X, and Asylum as stand alone programs, I’ve decided that for my next round I want to incorporate what I see as the best workouts from each program to make my Round 2 Hybrid.  I think all of the programs are great, but they all have different strengths and weaknesses.  So basically, my idea is to use the lifting days from P90X and then my cardio days in month 1 and 2 will be from Insanity, and month 3 cardio days will come from Asylum.  I love the whole P90X program, but Insanity and Asylum really step it up a notch with the cardio workouts.  So here is what my schedule will look like:

Month 1:

Monday – Chest and Back, Ab Ripper X
Tuesday – Plyometric Cardio Circuit
Wednesday – Shoulders & Arms, Ab Ripper X
Thursday – Cardio Power & Resistance
Friday – Legs & Back, Ab Ripper X
Saturday – Pure Cardio
Sunday – Rest

Month 2:

Monday – Chest, Shoulders & Triceps, Ab Ripper X
Tuesday – Max Interval Circuit
Wednesday – Back & Biceps, Ab Ripper X
Thursday – Max Interval Plyo
Friday – Legs & Back, Ab Ripper X
Saturday – Max Cardio Conditioning
Sunday – Rest

Month 3:

Monday – Chest & Back, Ab Ripper X
Tuesday – Speed & Agility
Wednesday – Shoulders & Arms, Ab Ripper X
Thursday – Vertical Plyo
Friday – Strength
Saturday – Game Day
Sunday – Rest

Recovery Week: (to be done for one week between each month)

Monday – Core Cardio and Balance
Tuesday – Core Synergistics
Wednesday – Fountain of Youth Yoga
Thursday – Kenpo X
Friday – Back to Core
Saturday – Core Synergistics
Sunday – Relief

I’m really looking forward to this new schedule.  I really feel it gives me the optimal balance of lifting and cardio and is going to be intense for sure!!!  Again, I have really enjoyed doing each program by itself, but I really feel that this will take the best options from each to give me the best results.  But the most important thing is just to be pushing play every day!   When you do that, you will see results.  If you are wondering how to create your own hybrid shoot me an e-mail at newbodycoachtom@gmail.com or leave a comment here!

And if you like this Round 2 Hybrid schedule and want to give it a try make sure you have all the workouts.  You can check out more info at these links: P90X, Insanity, Asylum

Tom, can you post which programs each one above is under? I'm looking to do a hybrid because I just don't feel like I get enough cardio from the P90X ones and instead of just plain running I wanted to see what would be worth including in my hybrid and wanted to know the programs the ones above each are from. Can do Mr. Finkle ;) All of the month 1 & 2 cardio workouts are from Insanity, so that's Plyometric Cardio Circuit, Pure Cardio, Cardio Power & Resistance, Max Interval Circuit, Max Interval Plyo, Max Cardio Conditioning, and Core Cardio & Balance. Month 3 is from Asylum: Speed & Agility, Vertical Plyo, Strength, Game Day, and Back to Core. If you're looking to do a hybrid with P90X & just one other program I would highly recommend Insanity for that. If you want help putting together a hybrid let me know!

  1. […] Day 270 Update Posted by Coach Tom on Sep 6, 2011 in Motivation, Workouts | 0 comments Wow does it seem like time flies!  I feel like it wasn’t that long ago that I just started doing Insanity for the first time, but day 270 is already here!  So I wanted to give you all a little update on my progress to this point.  For the last 90 days, I have been doing a hybrid workout with P90X, Tony Horton 1-on-1, Insanity, and Asylum workouts all mixed in.  If you want more details on this workout schedule, check it out here.
