P90X Fat Shredder Plan

Most people when they’re just starting a program like P90X or Insanity want to shed some fat, but often times people won’t take their nutrition as seriously as their workouts.  You figure that since you weren’t doing P90X or Insanity before, the workouts alone should help you see great results.  And don’t get me wrong, the workouts are very important, but if you don’t follow the nutrition plan you’re going to be disappointed.  This is exactly what happened to me.  Thankfully I figured this out and started following the P90X Fat Shredder Plan (even though I was on my second month of Insanity).  Once I started following the Fat Shredder plan, I really started seeing results.

P90X  Fat Shredder Plan Details

So what does the P90X Fat Shredder Plan really look like?  I mean, it sounds really good right?  The Fat Shredder plan really just outlines the percentages of protein/carbs/fat that you should be eating every day.  It has you eating 50% protein, 30% carbs, and 20% fat.  This is ideal to burn fat, because protein is the least likely macro-nutrient to store as fat in your body.  It’s not a no-carb plan, so you should still have energy to do your workouts too.

You might be a little confused on how to figure out where your calories are coming from every day but I can help you out here.  Lets take a 2000 calorie diet for example.  On the P90X Fat Shredder Plan that means that 1000 calories should come from protein, 600 calories should come from carbs and 400 should come from fat.  Now protein and carbs are both 4 calories/gram and fat is 9 calories/gram.  So the breakdown of grams is:

250 grams of protein, 150 grams of carb and 44 grams of fat

I know this sounds kind of complicated, and if you were doing it on a sheet of paper it probably would be very frustrating, but that’s why there are calorie tracking resources out there!  They make it incredibly easy.  Myfitnesspal is an awesome tool that I use on my phone which is super easy and gives me all the data I need.  There is definitely not excuse to not track because it’s so simple!

Is The P90X Fat Shredder Plan Dangerous Because of Too Much Protein?

Well as you can see, the P90X Fat Shredder Plan is a high protein diet, and when you eat that much protein for a long period of time it can stress your kidneys because they have to process protein.  So ideally you would not stay on this plan for more than 3 months in a row, but the most important thing is to get regular check-ups with your doctor to make sure everything is working fine.  The last thing you want to do is cause any health problems.  I haven’t had any adverse health effects from following it personally, but that’s just me.  Everyone’s body is different so make sure you’re getting regular check-ups to make sure you’re healthy.

My Results On The P90X Fat Shredder Plan

Like I mentioned above, during my first month of Insanity, I didn’t change my diet at all.  And I paid for that decision by not seeing any results.  No weight lost, no inches lost.  It was pretty disappointing.  But thankfully I realized that it was my nutrition that was holding me back.  So I decided to start following the P90X Fat Shredder Plan to see if I could turn things around.  And it worked!  I lost 17 lbs. during my second month of Insanity, and then 10 more lbs. during my first round of P90X and dropping my body fat lower than it had ever been.  Below is my Day 0 to Day 150.  Obviously the workouts did play a big role, but the P90X Fat Shredder Plan also allowed me to see these results.  I stayed on the plan, following my 1900 calorie diet, for 4 months, which is probably a bit longer than you would ideally stay with those percentages.  But I felt great and kept on seeing the fat come off which is why I stuck to it.

P90X Fat Shredder Plan

So I know it works because I’ve experienced it myself.  If you’re frustrated with your results but haven’t been putting in the work with your nutrition, then you should seriously consider following the P90X Fat Shredder Plan because it works!
