Monthly Check-In

Hi Team!

It’s nearing the end of August, so I wanted to get my monthly check-in out to you all! I hope your summer has been a great one! As we head into fall, it seems like schedules always get busier. If you have kids, it means school, extra-cirriculars, sports etc are all starting up. Now is the time to create good habits and not let things slip because your schedule is filling up. If you making working out and planning your meals a priority and a daily habit, it will help a ton as you go through the busier time of year.

My success tip for this month is to trust the process.  All too often I see people get discouraged because they start a workout program and eating healthy and they don’t see immediate results, or they don’t lose as much weight as they want to in the first week or two.  Working out and eating right isn’t a quick fix.  It takes consistent, daily work to see improvement.  If you’re averaging 1-2 lbs a week weight loss, think of what that would add up to over a 12 week program like P90X!  These programs and meal plans are designed by fitness experts and they work when you trust them and stick to the plan.  When I got started with Insanity, I lost no weight in the first month, but lose 17 lbs in month two!  So trust me, I’ve been there!  But I stuck it out and it really paid off.

From a workout perspective, I just wrapped up two things I was pretty excited about. First, I finished my first round of the 21 Day Fix! It was much more challenging than I expected and I really enjoyed it. I’ll post a review and my results soon. Second, my Year of the Beast group held its second powerlifting meet. It’s really just for fun and to see how we’ve been improving. I managed to increase my total to 1155 lbs, with a 525 lb deadlift, so that was a lot of fun and I stayed injury free!

Before I give you any other updates I have to brag a bit about my parents. They decided to join me on the 21 Day Fix journey and they absolutely crushed it! My mom lost 10 lbs and 7.5 inches and my dad lost 8 lbs!! They have always been very active and I attribute much of my active lifestyle to them, which I really appreciate. So it’s fun to see them have a good time and a lot of success with the program!

I’ve been giving the Beachbody Performance line a try this past month and posted my thoughts in this article: Beachbody Performance Review.  What I love about this line is that there are no artificial ingredients, which is almost unheard of in the supplement industry.

Also just a heads up that this is the last week that the CIZE Challenge Pack is on sale.  A lot of people have been having a ton of fun!  So check that out if you love dancing or want to learn some killer moves while getting a good workout in.
