January Check-In

Hi team!

I hope your 2016 is off to a great start! This is right around the time where the struggle gets real to keep up with your New Year’s resolutions, so I thought it would be a good time to reach out. If you’re hanging in there, that’s awesome! You are well on the way to forming good habits that will last for a long time. If you’ve lost a little motivation, it’s time to refocus and really think about why your health is important to you.

My success tip for this month is to make a plan. Without a plan, it’s incredibly hard to succeed. Think about the days when you’re rushed in the morning, trying to get yourself ready for work and maybe get the kids ready for school. How likely are you to pack a healthy lunch with all of that going on? I know for me, I’m much more likely to say I’ll just buy lunch at our cafeteria if I don’t have time to get it ready in the morning. ¬†Those options are inevitably worse than what I would make at home for myself. Instead, plan out the night before, and actually pack your lunch so you’re ready to go in the morning. It might only take 5 minutes, but that’s been a big game changer for me and it’s been something I’ve been pretty consistent at so far this year. Same goes for workouts. When you have a plan, I think it’s way easier to look at your schedule that you made previously, and just get your workout in. Pop a DVD in and crush your workout. If you don’t have a plan, and just go to the gym and try to figure something out on the fly, how well does that really work? I would guess it’s not going to be very effective.

The point is, having a plan takes the guess work out of your nutrition and workouts, and makes it much easier for you to do the activities day in and day out that will help you reach your goals. If you need help coming up with a plan, that’s what I’m here for!
