Coaching $$$ & FAQ

First off, let me say that being a coach is not for everyone.  But I know a few of you are interested in the Beachbody coaching opportunity, so I thought I’d lay out some frequently asked questions about coaching, some indications that coaching might be a good opportunity for you, and yes, I will post some income information is available from Beachbody.  It’s not anything that isn’t public information, but I’ll save you the time looking for it.  Again, coaching isn’t for everyone, but for the right person it can be a great fit!  I was on the fence myself for quite a while, but am extremely happy that I made the decision to become a coach and believe it was the right choice!

FAQ

Q: How much does it cost to become a coach?

A: There is an initial $39.95 fee and then a monthly charge of $14.95 for your back office. The back office is a website that Beachbody provides for you that keeps track of your sales, team sales, customers, commissions, as well as some training, sales tools, and much more.

Q: How much time do I have to dedicate in order to be a coach?

A: The amount of time you spend is completely up to you. It just depends on what kind of coach you want to be.  You can be a coach simply for the purpose of saving money on your own products (for example, if you currently use Shakeology, the amount you save on your Shakeology purchase each month is more than the monthly fee to be a coach, so you’ll already be ahead!).  Or, if you want to make the investment of time to turn your coaching into a great part-time (or even full time) business, Beachbody is the perfect way to do that.  You are a product of the system, and your own results are a walking, talking advertisement that will bring people to you!  Plus, you are backed by Beachbody’s multi-million dollar advertising budget.

Q: Do I have to have a great transformation to be a coach?

A: No! You have to have a passion for helping others and the desire to succeed. The earlier you start, the better.  Having a great transformation is just the icing on the cake, and it can help attract others to you.  You’ll literally be a walking billboard.

Q: What if I’m not very knowledgable about fitness?

A: You don’t have to be a fitness expert to be a coach. I wasn’t when I first started. However, I’ve done a lot of research to learn as much as I could about fitness in general (and P90X / Insanity / One on Ones / P90X Plus in particular), nutrition, and supplements.  Really people are just looking for someone who can tell them what has worked for them.  The best time to start learning and becoming an expert is NOW!

Q: Will I get the proper training?

A: Beachbody has an excellent training program called the Game Plan, which you will need to understand when you sign up to coach. I’m also here as support for you to help you get your business of the ground.

If you have more questions, you can absolutely send them my way.

Indications that being a coach might be for you:

-Have you already seen amazing results with Beachbody workouts or supplements like Shakeology?

-Do people ask you what you’ve done to get in shape?  If they are and you’re not a coach, you’re missing out on important opportunities right there!

-Do you have a passion for helping others?  Do you have a passion for the fitness industry?

-Do you enjoy being a leader?

-Are you already spending $60/month on Beachbody workouts/supplements/etc.?  If so, you would be saving more money than it costs to be a coach with the 25% discount.  For example, if you’re on Shakeology HD, there’s no reason you shouldn’t be a coach, if only for the monthly savings.

If you answered yes to any or multiple questions, then the coaching opportunity could be right for you.  It doesn’t necessarily mean it is, but it could be.

Stats and $$$:

Now on to what everyone wants to know, right?   How much does a Beachbody coach actually make?  First let me give you some statistics.

-As of this morning there are 64,613 coaches.  That’s definitely a lot, but I know Carl Diakler is envisioning 1 million coaches so there’s a long way to go!

% of coaches who earn a commission check:  This has been roughly 50%.  Meaning half of the coaches that sign up do it just for the discount.

% of coaches who move up to Emerald status: About 23% of coaches reach Emerald status.  Emerald status means that you have signed up two coaches underneath you.  As you can see, only about a quarter of coaches will reach this status, but is it hard?  No!  It’s actually fairly simple.  If you’re sharing your story and what has worked for you, other people get motivated and want to join you.  I’m currently an Emerald coach, and am very happy about that.

% of coaches who move up to Diamond status:  About 4% of coaches are Diamond coaches.  Now the ranks are thinning out!  To become Diamond, you have to sign up 8 personally sponsored coaches, and have at least two of them move up to Emerald themselves.  Now that sounds really tough!  But it’s not!  It just takes consistent effort and time.  The same activities that help you reach Emerald, help you reach Diamond, it just takes some time.

% of coaches who reach Star Diamond:  This is only 2.2% of coaches!  Now you’re in very thin air!  To become Star Diamond, you have to be Diamond yourself and have 1 of your coaches also become a Diamond coach.  So if you’re doing your normal activities that get you to Emerald or Diamond, Star Diamond won’t be far behind.  It’s all a matter of putting in the work and sticking with it!  I truly believe and know I will get to this point eventually.  It takes some longer than others, but what matters is consistently putting effort in to improve your team.

Now for the fun details, the $$$!

Emerald:  Average yearly earnings = $2588    High = $52,758

Diamond: Average yearly earnings = $13, 968   High = $107,915

Star Diamond: Average yearly earnings = $94,122   High = $1,052,383

How cool is that?!  At least one BB coach made a million bucks last year!  Pretty amazing what getting in shape yourself and helping others do the same can do for your financial success.  Now obviously, that is not the norm for coaches.  As you can see, the income potential goes up  greatly as you increase in rank.  Right now, I’d say I am right about at the average earnings for Emerald coaches, which I’m totally happy with.  I’m not quitting my day job, but that’s a good chunk of money.

One word of caution I do have, though.  If you’re in this just to make money, then DON’T sign up.  I see people who only have a monetary motivation that get frustrated early and end up quitting.  Don’t get me wrong, it’s definitely fine to have a goal to make it a successful business, it’s not a business where you’re going to earn a ton of money right out of the gates all the time.  It takes time to build a successful business.  And if you don’t really care about the people you’re helping, but instead you’re just trying to push products, people will be able to tell and get turned off.  The people who are most successful really care about helping others which shows in their recommendations and advice.  I never feel like I’m selling products myself.  All I am doing is telling people what has worked for me, it’s as simple as that!  I found I was already doing that, so I figured I might as well become a coach!

When I started my journey, I just started with Insanity and had no idea about this opportunity.  I had no intentions of signing up to be a coach, I didn’t even know what a coach was or did!  I heard the lady on the ads after the workouts say “ask your Team Beachbody coach for information” but really didn’t know what that meant.  But as I got plugged into the Beachbody community I learned more about the coaching opportunity and found a coach myself who I wanted to emulate.  After a few months I did decide to join the ranks as a coach and have loved doing it ever since.

I’ve always had a passion for others and a passion for fitness, so it was a natural fit.  Is it a good fit for you?  Maybe it is and maybe it isn’t.  But getting the information is the key.  If you’re considering being a coach, shoot me an e-mail with any questions and I would gladly go over any questions/concerns you have!

*One important note:  Active military members can sign up to be a coach for free!  So if that’s you, it’s a no-brainer.  Even if it’s just for the 25% discount because you pay nothing to be a coach.  It’s Beachbody’s way of saying “thank you” to our active military for all you do!
