Active Maternity – Trimester 3 Review

With just three weeks to go until my due date, I’ve been working out to Active Maternity – Trimester Three for about eight weeks now and wanted to post a review for all you future mamas out there! In case you missed my last review, I talked about the Trimester Two workouts here.

When I first started doing the third trimester workout, I wondered if I needed to look for something more challenging. Turns out, it was just a week or so later when this workout began to feel plenty challenging for my ever-changing body. In the third trimester, I’ve definitely noticed a decline in the high energy levels I enjoyed during the second trimester. Because of this, the Trimester Three workout is basically maxing out my energy and strength – anything more intense probably wouldn’t be good for me to attempt!

I really like that the third trimester workout is focused on getting you ready for labor and delivery. There are about 10 exercises that you do twice in the 25 minute workout. Each set is three reps that you hold for ten seconds each, with the goal of improving your endurance for what can be the long process of labor. Early in my third trimester, I went through these workouts, no problem. Once I hit 35 weeks, I started taking some breaks in between exercises to catch my breath and make sure I’m getting enough water. Side note – it’s super important to stay hydrated when you’re pregnant so make sure you’re filling your water bottle before the workout starts. I probably drink 24 oz during my 25 minute workout!

I’ve been really happy with the maternity workouts of Active Maternity. Since I haven’t been through the whole birthing process before, I can’t testify to whether or not it’s helpful, but I’m a big believer in the research showing that moms who workout have shorter labor experiences. It’s important to be mentally and physically prepared for what’s to come, so I continue to highly recommend this workout to all future mama’s out there who are looking to stay fit during your pregnancy.

If you’re wondering how you can join the fun, Active Maternity is a workout that’s available via Beachbody on Demand. You can try it out for FREE for 30 days to see if you like it (awesome deal!), and then you can join the club for a small fee (trust me, it’s WAY LESS than if you belong to a fitness club).
