4th Quarter

The 4th quarter is where games are won and lost.  It’s where mental focus and discipline are needed most, but can start to slip.  The team that’s ahead can put the nail in the coffin and seal the victory, or they can get comfortable and lazy and get beat by an amazing comeback.  The team that’s behind can either give up and hang their heads, or they can muster up their best effort and believe the game isn’t over until it’s over.

As we go into the last 3 months of the year, or the “4th quarter” of 2011, what team are you on and how are you going to end the year?

Have you reached your goals and feel good with where you’re at?

-Then I want to encourage you to keep the pedal to the metal and don’t let up at all!  It’s awesome that you’ve seen great results and have your health under control, but don’t get comfortable!  It’s easy to slip back into old habits and start reversing your results.
-Set a new goal that will challenge you.  Maybe it’s not a weight you want to get down to.  It could be a race you want to finish or a competition you want to enter.  Find something that’s meaningful that will give you something to keep pushing hard for.
-Be an example for your friends and family, especially during the holidays.  Show them that you can work out and eat healthy and still enjoy yourself at family celebrations.  It just might catch on and you could be motivating them to get in shape too!

Are you feeling a little discouraged and have a long way to go?

-3 months is a long time, so you definitely have enough time to lose that extra weight and reach your goal.  It’s a perfect time to start P90X.
-If you haven’t been seeing the results you expected, then look to change something up in the last 3 months of the year.  Analyze your diet for things you can cut out and new healthy things you can add.  If you’re not using Shakeology, consider trying it and seeing what results it will help you get in your 4th quarter.
-Start wearing a heart rate monitor to make sure you’re really pushing yourself in the workouts.
-Find a partner to help encourage you and hold you accountable to stick with your plans these last 3 months of the year.  If you don’t know anyone around you that can help, message me!  I am more than willing to help out and give you the boost you need.
-DON’T GIVE UP!  This is not the time to let the ball drop and throw in the towel.  This is the time to dig deep and really see what you’re made of.

I want to encourage you to end 2011 well.  Everyone hates New Year’s resolutions, and no one really sticks to them anyway, so put yourself in a position to not need one!  Don’t be the person who thinks, “I’ll start new in 2012 and lose the weight then.”  Start making progress towards your goals now.  It’s always easier to push things of until “tomorrow” but don’t let yourself fall into that trap.  Lets all push each other and see how strong we can finish 2011!
